New 2018 Honda CRV launch date is 9th October, prices to start at Rs 28 lakhSeptember 9, 2018
Honda is all set to launch the all-new CRV on 9th October. This is the first time that the CRV will be offered with a 3rd row seats along with a Diesel engine. The CR-V will be priced from approximately Rs 28 lakh, making it slightly more expensive than the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
The new CR-V will come with a 1.6-litre Diesel engine with 120 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. While these figures are disappointing in front of rivals, the CR-V will be lighter and will make use of a segment leading nine-speed automatic transmission set-up. It will get AWD as option with the diesel motor and not manual gearbox will be offered with this engine.
The CR-V will also be offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 154 bhp of power and 189 Nm of torque. The petrol engine will not come with a manual gearbox or all-wheel drive set-up. However we are sure the petrol CR-V will hardly have any takers given the massive rise in fuel prices lately.
The CRV’s new innings will start at a time when the Rs 25-30 lakh segment is booming with new options like the Mahindra XUV700 (launch on same date), improved Isuzu mu-X (launch later this year) and updated Ford Endeavour (launch early 2019). While the 2018 CR-V seems well packaged, the only downfall here is the weak diesel motor. Will buyers overlook this?
